I thought my days of enjoying pantomimes were behind me. Well oh no they’re not. This year’s thigh-slappingly good panto at the Tivoli is a rollercoaster of fun. Pendle Productions have delivered a classic Aladdin, played with charm and gusto by Amy O’Neill. She can sing too and that is one of the great strengths of the show. Loads of modern pop songs (Ting Tings, Take That) combine with a catalogue of Elvis hits. The whole cast gives 110 per cent and special mention must go to Wishee Washee (Callum Arnott) – great comic timing. The sets are bright and the flying carpet is a good illusion. I was clapping along and waving my hands like a mad thing by the end – I loved the skeletons and Elvis singing American Trilogy. Lovely work too from young dancers they added some magic to a great family show.
